It is estimated that medical errors will account for over 3 million deaths globally this year alone, yes you read that correctly, 3 million! It is unsurprising that this is then the third leading cause of death.

Approximately 12,500 of these patient deaths are accounted for by the NHS with the NHS Litigation Authority reporting that the Health Service ‘coughed up’ £1.1 billion in legal fees alone for 2014.
