Client - Spacelabs Healthcare

Role - Territory Manager

Overview

Founded in 1958, Spacelabs, part of OSI Systems, developed the first vital signs monitoring for NASA astronauts culminating in Neil Armstrong wearing Spacelabs telemetry for the moon landing in 1969.

Today, health monitoring is much more than the collection and display of vital signs. Effective health management requires diagnostic fidelity data acquisition from multiple sources, sophisticated analysis through intelligent algorithms, and translation of this data into clinically actionable information. Vital signs can now be collected wherever the patient is — from hospital to clinic to home. Healthcare professionals expect immediate access to this information where and when they need it. Spacelabs is working to connect the entire care continuum with insightful information that empowers clinicians to make better informed decisions and deliver value-based care.

The Roles

The UK sales team had been looking for a south east territory manager to specialise in the patient monitoring and cardiology capital equipment. The role would be reporting directly to the south sales manager and covering most of the south of England.

The ideal candidate would need to have strong capital/long sales cycle experience, desirably in the related fields. A good personality was also a key requirement, especially if their experience differed from the brief.

Approach & Outcome

RMG had not previously worked with Spacelabs but having approached the hiring manager as part of some outbound communication the company explained that they had been struggling to find a suitable candidate for quite some time.

After an in-depth conversation with the company, RMG was able to identify two exceptional candidates in just four days as a result of some careful research and leveraging established networks. Both candidates were brought to interview over the Christmas break and performed to a high standard during the interview.

The job market at the time was exceptionally volatile with some companies making significant cutbacks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Understandably this has an effect on candidates’ willingness to move roles, but this was an issue that RMG was sensitive to and therefore able to provide counsel and help keep candidates reassured.

The process went to a third stage interview including a presentation and some intense questioning when one particular candidate excelled and was therefore offered the position the next day which they accepted.

The role was the first UK-based role that the candidate had taken so RMG kept in close contact with them helping with various tasks while Visas and permits were put in place.

In summary - this was a position that Spacelabs had been struggling to fill but as a result of RMG listening carefully to the client’s needs and proactively tailoring the search and selection to fit, we were able to identify an outstanding candidate in a relatively short timeframe

" I received great service from RMG and the individual consultant especially, who secured me a job within a very short period of time. She guided me and walked me through every step of the way, making me feel confident and at ease. Having just immigrated, and job seeking during a stressful time of COVID, this support was greatly appreciated
