Fresenius Kabi is a healthcare company specialising in clinical nutrition and infusion therapy. The company was formed in 1999, following the merger of the pharma division of Fresenius Ltd with the nutrition business of Pharmacia & Upjohn Ltd. They are dedicated to the concept of Caring for Life. We have worked with the business for over 20 years, recruiting across all areas of the business for them and adding value by consistently delivering on retained projects with candidates who have stayed and progressed, helping to grow the business.
Fresenius Kabi had two openings within the business – a Pharmacy Services Manager and a manager to head up the Medical Information team. The client had specific briefs for each role, a registered pharmacist, ideally with experience of parenteral nutrition or IV therapies, (though pharmacists in a service led role would be considered) for the Pharmacy Services Manager.
For the Head of Medical Information, we were tasked to find a medical information pharmacist, or a life science graduate with experience of medical information. Both roles required an individual with a proven record of leadership and people management.
These were highly specialised positions in a sector with extreme skills shortages; we therefore undertook a broad attraction strategy encompassing Search (identifying appropriate targets and headhunting) and Advertising. The advertising was sector specific and used both online and print options. By employing a more open approach we were able to identify a pool of candidates who fitted all of the client’s requirements.
The thoroughness of our campaign found an individual who was actually capable of undertaking both of the roles. The company created a combined position which allowed the individual to join the business at a higher strategic level and therefore have a greater impact on the business. The successful candidate settled in well to the combined role and made an excellent impact on the business.
