Fittleworth was founded in 1984 by Jaqueline and Alan Seymour. Fittleworth is one of the UK’s leading home delivery companies for stoma, continence and wound care products. Fittleworth handle over 2,000 prescriptions per day, with a turnover of £107 Million and employing 350 staff across 38 sites across the UK.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Sales & Marketing Director would have overall responsibility for a Marketing Manager and their team as well as a National Sales Manager with a sales force of 10. The key deliverable for this position is the achievement of the annual operating plan, through the effective leadership of the Sales and Marketing teams. The business had nearly doubled in size in the last 5 years and so facing consolidation challenges as well as seeking to deliver ambitious growth plans in a growing yet highly competitive market. Fittleworth sought a high calibre commercial leader with the desire and potential to grow into a full business leadership role in the medium term.
RMG recommended a Retained Executive Search (headhunting) strategy to Fittleworth. We agreed to map the marketplace for companies in a number of aligned therapy areas, and considering the direct competition where relevant candidates could be working. Our target list of 50 companies led us to engage 79 individuals which then developed into our shortlist.
Fittleworth engaged RMG on the search on 29th May and we submitted our shortlist of candidates on 29th June. Fittleworth initially interviewed three individuals from the shortlist, progressing one to second stage and then on to a final stage interview. The candidate was subsequently offered the position, accepted and tendered their resignation on 15th August and will commence their employment with Fittleworth in November on completing the notice period with their current employer.
