Our focus is always long term and I’m proud that our employees, on average, stay here for more than six years, more than three times the industry norm. We’ve got senior consultants who joined as graduate trainees and consultants who’ve made it to Director.
What to expect at RMG
RMG are always interested in bringing great people into the business. We hire people who demonstrate great attitude and a good cultural fit, and a real desire to achieve, placing greater emphasis here than on a specific skill set.
RMG specialise in hard to fill and niche roles in a variety of technology sectors, so it’s not for the faint-hearted. However, over 80% of our business is from repeat clients, so we are confident that we’ve got a successful business model.
RMG’s culture also means we’ll support you, develop, promote and reward you. To get an extra flavour of what it’s like to work at RMG click into any of the short videos that the team members have posted on our website about their view and journey of working with RMG.
Headhunter/ Search Consultant
This is only going to appeal to you if you are looking for a company with a refreshingly different culture, that’s utterly untypical of the recruitment industry, and where you’ll get freedom and space to express your talents.
Our culture embraces Accountability, Execution, Creativity and Learning, we publicly live our values, and we’re very clear of our purpose – “to recruit outstandingly talented people who add long term value for our clients”. We’re now in our twenty first year and are proudly independent.
You’ll be a talented and successful recruiter looking to develop your career in an environment that’s uncompromisingly right for you. You may have some expertise in our core operational areas of Healthcare and Chemicals; or in another closely aligned sector where you can add value to our existing proposition. Alternatively you may have expertise in a completely different sector which you’d love to grow and develop at RMG.
At RMG we work nationally and internationally on permanent roles by operating in exclusive retained client partnerships. We always hire people who demonstrate a great attitude and solid cultural fit. You’ll receive great mentoring from individuals who have “been there, seen it, done it”, and you’ll be part of a focussed, growing business where you can really help shape the future.

What’s it really like being a trainee recruitment consultant at RMG? How will I spend my time?
Your days will include tasks such as researching markets, taking incoming calls and making outgoing calls to prospective candidates & clients, maintaining and updating RMG’s company ‘Profile’ (CRM) system.
By shadowing more experienced staff, you’ll learn on the job and pick up valuable knowledge to help you on your career path. You also be given a specific training programme, receive regular assessments, feedback and one-to-ones.
You could be dealing with Retained and/or Contingent projects and be tasked with ‘searching’ for suitable candidates for a range of different roles.at different levels.
Being a Recruitment Consultant is primarily a sales role, for successful people who achieve results the rewards are excellent.
Your hours will generally be Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm. Although the role is mainly desk-based, you’ll get to meet clients and candidates both on and off site.
With experience there is the potential to progress up the RMG ladder. Promotion into a Consultant, Senior Consultant or Management is a real possibility – especially if you’re consistently delivering, or exceeding, targets and making a big impression on clients and candidates alike.
The Fab Bits
With more experience comes the opportunity to get more involved, interviewing and selecting candidates and working directly with clients.
The not so Fab bits
